Members of a Redbourn golf club have raised more than £11,000 for a charity that provides nurses for seriously ill children in Hertfordshire.

Redbourn Golf Club has collected £11,462 in the past 12 months through a number of fundraisers for The Pepper Foundation.

Richard Keens, one of the club’s captains, said: "We wanted to support a local charity that helps children and The Pepper Foundation was the perfect choice.

"The Redbourn members, visitors and staff have been unerring in their support for this great cause, for which Brenda and I are incredibly grateful."

The Pepper Foundation offers on-call nurses to children 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

Ian McDowell, the club’s general manager, said: "Both members and visitors have generously donated tens of thousands of pounds at countless charitable events held at Redbourn over the years.

"It is pleasing to see an organisation dedicated to local youngsters, receiving the support of the community."
