As the number of scouts increases in Harpenden, scout groups are now on the lookout for new volunteers.
Latest figures show numbers in Harpenden and Wheathampstead to be 1,435, an eight per cent increase since last year.
In Hertfordshire membership is 16,463, the highest it has ever been in its 105 year history, and the upward trend reflects a national increase for the last seven years.
Chief Scout and outdoor survival expert Bear Grylls said: "Over the last few years it has been our mission to make it easier for adults to give as much or as little as they are able. It is how we change our society: many people doing a little bit.
"With over 30,000 young people still on our waiting lists there’s no better time to get involved - whatever you look like and whatever you can give."
