A comic book shop in St Albans will be giving out copies of a specialist edition tomorrow to mark Free Comic Book Day tomorrow.
Chaos City Comics will be giving away the freebies from 10am to mark the annual event, which is celebrated in specialist stores across the UK and North America.
Owner Derek Watson, 50, said: "Free Comic Book Day is a world-wide event which happens on the first Saturday of May every year.
"American and British publishers create a comic and we give them away on the day.
"The day is growing and growing in popularity. Compared to Europe and the US the UK used to be the one place where there were raised eyebrows at adults reading comics.”
Mr Watson said that comic books are becoming more accepted by main stream consumers.
He added: "My favourite comic character is Cyclops from X Men, I suppose because he is a bit misunderstood, but has good leadership qualities."
