Pupils from a Harpenden school experienced a maths lesson with a difference when it was taken by a magician this week.

Mathemagician Andrew Jeffrey paid Aldwickbury School a visit on Tuesday to motivate children pupils from reception to Year 8 to take more interest in maths.

The unorthodox lesson included throwing and catching imaginary red fluff to multiplying sponges, appearing numbers and transforming shapes.

Teacher Lesley McFarlane Welsh, who organised the event, said: "We appreciated and enjoyed Andrew's outstanding, maths packed shows today.

"We have had the most fantastic day of laughter, inspiration and fun."
