A Harpenden golf club has raised more than £4,000 for the Herts Air Ambulance service.

Seventy-six golfers from Aldwickbury Park Golf Club braved poor weather conditions to take part in this special event, which also saw a "guest appearance" from the Herts Air Ambulance itself, piloted by David Kerr-Sheppard of the Essex & Herts Air Ambulance Trust, accompanied by paramedic Jo Lambert.

Topping the leaderboard was 57-year-old Neil Carlile from St Albans, while Rory Superfine, 14, from Harpenden came second and taking third was 70-year-old Tony Near.

Andrew Shewbridge, Aldwickbury Park golf club general manager, said: "The charity day is always a special event in our calendar as it brings together members and their guests to raise money for our official club charity.

"By having the Herts Air Ambulance on-site for part of the day, and having two employees - doctor Jonty Robinson and paramedic Erica Ley - actually playing in our event, made the occasion extra special for all involved."
