Families living in St Albans and Harpenden can look forward to a jam packed Sunday when Larks in the Parks comes to the district.

A free day of fun in the sun for all the family is expected at this year’s Larks in the Parks, with this year’s theme flight spread across five green spaces.

Residents can look forward to meeting some very big birds and a bouncy Wing Commander, creating a kite and trying their hand at winning the first Larks in the Parks Challenge trophy by making a paper aeroplane and succeeding to fly it the furthest.

The events will run from 12 noon to 5pm.

For the first time, Harpenden will hold an event in Batford Springs, Marquis Lane featuring a Duck Race on the River Lea, St George’s Ukelele Band, Rides & Slides, Craft and Charity Stalls, Archery and Shooting and Morris Dancers.

Fleetville Recreation Ground in Hatfield Road offers Stilt Walkers, Fleetville Swing Band, Hula hoop workshop, a Caribbean kitchen, Indian street food , afternoon teas, children's craft area, face painting and vintage stalls.

London Colney Community Centre, in Caledon Road invites residents to enjoy music from The Push, Engine Room, Krista Johnson and Richard Flegg while offering stiltwalkers , hula hoop workshop and kite making.

Victoria Playing Field in Folly Lane offers a range of children’s Entertainment including Johnny Slap’s amazing juggling act, inflatable slide, ride on steam train, Punch & Judy and splat the rat.

Roestock Park in Admirals Close, Colney Heath will also share live music and entertainment from Dan the hat, a juggler and clown and residents will also get the chance to be part of the Guinness Word Record Attempt to make the largest Balloon Tetrahedron.
