This is the moment Darth Vadar and his stormtroopers invaded the streets of Redbourn.

Goggle-eyed residents looked on as the Star Wars soldiers marched through the High Street to the Common on Sunday, July 30.

St Albans & Harpenden Review:

The stormtroopers, who are from Star Wars costuming club the 501st UK Garrison, visited Redbourn in support of the East Common Project, which is currently raising cash to build a new play area.

Hundreds of people gathered at the village summer fete at the Parish Centre in St Michaels Street to watch films, enjoy an array of stalls and compete in a fancy dress competition to raise £1,900 for the project.

Nadia Davies, event organiser said: "For the stormtroopers to come to Redbourn was amazing. It was a lovely day and we had the weather for it.

"We have had lots of positive feedback and you could see the kid’s jaw dropping and goggle-eyed as they saw Darth Vadar marching through.

"We also had a goody, the Jedi Knight, to balance it out.

"It was great. We managed to put on a really nice day for everyone in Redbourn, as well as raising money which is what we set out to do."
