There is a new burst of colour in St Albans thanks to a number of newly planted flowerbeds in Waxhouse Gate.
A group of volunteers from the Earthworks charity set to work to plant 19 species of plants in the area on Sunday, June 28.
St Albans’ mayor, Annie Brewster, who was on hand to help during the day, said: "The new flowerbeds look stunning, even ecclesiastical, with purple and red flowers dwarfed by their cathedral backdrop.
"The eye-catching new garden will be seen by thousands of residents and visitors as they walk along the footpath between the High Street and the Cathedral.
"Congratulations to everyone who has supported the project and to those who have taken part in the planting. They have certainly made our city even more beautiful."
