Staff at a cosmetics shop in St Albans will be puckering up and trying to kiss their way into the Guinness Book of World Records this weekend.

Lush, which is in The Maltings, will be taking part in the company’s national attempt to smash the current record of collecting 22,174 lipstick kiss prints in one day.

The attempt, which will take place on Saturday, has been organised to coincide with International Kissing Day.

Store manager Tesni Edwards said: "For years and years we’ve been campaigning for non-animal testing.

"This is a way for us to show cruelty free make-up can be equally, if not more, fabulous."

Staff will be wearing t-shirts ready to be kissed from 11am until 5pm.

The existing record is held by a Bulgarian company.

The shop hopes to collect about 600 kisses to put towards the national target.

Ms Edwards added: "It is going to be really great fun.

"We want people to get down, get involved and give us some kisses."
