An investigation has been launched after a large fire ripped through a Grade II listed pub in Wheathampstead in the early hours of this morning.
Fire engines from St Albans, Harpenden, Welwyn Garden City and Wheathampstead stations were called to The Swan Pub at around 5.40am.
Hertfordshire Fire and Rescue said when firefighters arrived the blaze had taken hold of both floors of the pub, in High Street.
Part of the pub’s roof had to be cut away so firefighters could reach the flames.
The fire has since been extinguished but fire crews are still at the pub damping down.
No one was said to be hurt in the blaze.
