A Level exam results joy at Beaumont School: 'Revision and staying indoors has paid off'
Pupils from Beaumont School celebrated brilliant A Level results this morning.
Groups huddled and some held hands as they waited to hear their fate in the school hall in Oakwood Drive, St Albans at 9am.
Leah Holt (pictured below), of Fleetville, had a lot to smile about with 2 A* grades in maths and art and an A grade in psychology.
Keen to take the pressure off because she plans to take a gap year before going to university next year, Leah said it was a huge relief. She said: "I am really pleased. A lot of revision and staying indoors has paid off. "
Ed Calvert of Sunderland Avenue was celebrating a place in Oxford University after achieving three A’s in German, maths and physics.
He said: "I was a little nervous as you would expect but I am really pleased to be going to Oxford to study French and German."
Nervous beforehand Fiona Foster looked relieved after finding out she had achieved three A’s in chemistry, geography, and business and economics. Fiona said: "I was really nervous before and I really wasn’t expecting these results. I was expecting A B B.
"My family will be proud of me and lots of revision every day for six weeks has paid off."
Assistant head teacher, Charles Cross said despite being at the school for 25 years the excitement on A Level results day does not change.
Mr Cross said: "Even after 25 years, it is still as exciting as it was and I still look forward to it.
"We have had lots of happy faces and it is a really pleasant time.
"It is just not about the high flyers who have achieved A* grades it is for everyone who has worked hard."
