St Albans Food and Drink Awards 2013: Time to vote
Residents can vote for their favourite nominated bar, café, restaurant, pub, food producer or shop for the St Albans Food and Drink Awards 2013.
The winners will be announced during the St Albans Food and Drink Festival which runs from Wednesday, September 25 to Sunday, October 6, which is organised by St Albans District Council.
In July the council invited online nominations from around the district, for each of the categories in this year’s Food and Drink Awards.
They are now asking residents to vote for their favourite food and drink establishments and producers from those already nominated in the following categories:
• Best Bar
• Best Local Café
• Best Local Producer
• Best Local Restaurant
• Best Pub
• Best Street Food - a new category
• Local Gem
• Most Family Friendly Venue The winners will be unveiled at an awards dinner on Thursday, October 3 at St Michael’s Manor in St Albans.
Councillor Beric Read, portfolio holder for community engagement and localism at the council, said: "The Food and Drink Awards celebrate the food and drink businesses that exist across the District, as well as the tasty delights that are produced locally.
"We have received lots of nominations for the awards categories.
"Now cast you vote for your favourite eaterie, hostelry, shop or food and drink producer online."
There is also a special award in memory of Kate D’Arcy, a much-loved St Albans restaurateur who died in June 2010.
This award will be presented to a person who has exceeded expectations by providing outstanding service and delivering a faultless experience.
