Fundraiser for St Albans' Charlotte Harvey seriously injured in cycling accident 'a great success'
Family and friends gathered at a charity fundraiser on Saturday to raise £1,500 to help improve the life of a St Albans mother who has been left seriously injured after a cycling accident abroad.
Charlotte Harvey, 23, encountered a fractured spine after she lost control of a cycle down a steep hill and crashed into a tree stump, while holidaying in France with her two-year-old son Oscar Franco.
Two weeks after returning home, family friends Tina and Wayne Crassweller organised the fun day in the Victoria pub, Victoria Street to raise money to make life easier for her while recovering.
Visitors enjoyed a darts competition, raffle, auction, live music and a disco.
Mrs Crassweller said: "We had a really good day and it was a great success.
"Lots of her friends turned out to support the event. "We have raised a great amount which will make life a little easier for Charlotte, especially with the expenses of child care.
"Charlotte managed to come along for three hours and she was pretty overwhelmed by it all."
Ms Harvey is currently in a wheelchair, with a back brace while she awaits further results.
