Harpenden to host free Health Fair event for families at Harpenden Public Halls
3:20pm Tuesday 10th September 2013 in News
Talks on childhood illness, living with food allergies and teenage sexual health are just three elements of a free Health Fair taking place at Harpenden Public Halls from 10am until 2pm on Saturday, September 28.
Organised by the Davenport House Patient Group, the event is open to all and is packed with interest for parents and grandparents of children and teenagers.
As well as health talks by experts, visitors can expect live stage performances by - and for - local children, as well as more than 30 stalls representing local health organisations covering everything from asthma to autism and smoking to special needs. Refreshments and children’s entertainment will also contribute to making this an event for all the family.
The Health Fair is the key event in the 20th anniversary celebrations of the Davenport House Patient Group which was founded on the initiative of former senior partner Dr Derek Bird and its first chairman, Geoff Mainwaring.
The fair will be opened at 10am by David Clarke, Harpenden resident and Paralympian captain of Great Britain’s visually impaired football team. David will also talk about his experiences later in the morning.
The Health Fair will be closed at 2pm by Harpenden Mayor, councillor Rosemary Farmer.
