Artist Clive Patterson's city painting to raise money for Home Start St Albans City & District
A St Albans artist has painted a view of the city he lives in to raise money for a family support charity.
Clive Patterson, a St Albans resident for 25 years and a member of the St Albans Art Society and a regular participant in the annual Herts Open Studios event has painted the piece in aid of Home Start St Albans City & District.
The framed painting shows a view from Market Street down towards the Clock Tower and Abbey, and is painted with acrylic on board. It commemorates a historic event because Mr Patterson painted it on the day that Prince George was born, which is why the Union Jack is flying over the Abbey.
Mr Patterson’s wife, Sally has been the scheme manager at Home-Start St Albans since 2001.
He said: "I regularly paint scenes in the city and it didn't take much to persuade me to do a special commission in aid of the charity".
His studio will be open to the public over the last two weekends in September where his ‘Summer in the City’ painting will be on view.
Home-Start trustee Lara Davis said: "We are delighted that Clive has painted this for us. This is a great opportunity for someone to purchase a beautiful piece of artwork and help a local charity at the same time.
"We're taking sealed bids until September 30 when the winning bidder will be announced and 100 per cent of the purchase price will go to Home-Start St Albans City & District."
Contact Home-Start on 01727 833810 or email firstname.lastname@example.org to request a larger image of the painting, request a viewing or to make your sealed bid.
