Hertfordshire's bid for Best Holiday County or Region title at 2013 British Travel Awards
People are being encouraged to cast a vote to make Hertfordshire the UK’s top tourist destination.
The campaign follows the county’s success in reaching the shortlist in the category for "Best Holiday County or Region" at the 2013 British Travel Awards.
Leading the campaign Yolanda Rugg said: "We are very excited about our new campaign. Reaching the travel awards shortlist is a great achievement. Now we want to make the most of this opportunity to show that Hertfordshire really is the best in the field.
"People who live here or know us are fully aware of what Hertfordshire can offer its many visitors, so now we are enlisting their help to let everybody know what a great county this is and carry off this award. In a phrase, we need your vote.
"We are especially keen that businesses should encourage all their employees and customers to take part.
"Ultimately, being chosen as the top UK tourist destination benefits not only the B2B (business to business) and B2C (business to customer) sectors but everybody else too. If you would like to help and support, please contact the team firstname.lastname@example.org.
"It creates a greater sense of county pride, raises awareness and celebrates our 10 county districts and their tourism offers, encourages more support for the leisure industry from local authorities and town centres and increases footfall to our shops and attractions."
The quest for votes coincides with a "Love Herts" campaign aiming to highlight the county’s top attractions, rolling countryside and easy links with London and the rest of the UK and sets out to boost Hertfordshire’s presence.
It is being supported by a range of promotions across the county in the coming weeks including a "Love Herts" flag relay and regular updates on Facebook and on Twitter via @enjoyherts.
