Wheatfields Infants and Nursery children celebrate International Talk like a Pirate Day
Children from a St Albans school dressed up as pirates today to mark International Talk like a Pirate Day.
Throughout Wheatfields Infants and Nursery, there has been lots of "Shiver Me Timbers" as pupils have got into the spirit of the day which encourages people to dress in swashbuckling attire.
As part of this, 176 children visited Shoeburyness East Beach for the day, were they were able to paddle in the sea, find crabs and sea creatures as well as build sandcastles and create Andy Goldsworth style art.
This is part of the Downes Road school’s curriculum to learn about the sea and improve their writing skills.
Headteacher Jane Whitehurst said: "All the children were completely engaged and excited whilst at Shoeburyness and today as Pirates their enthusiasm for learning can be seen throughout the school.
"We had our very own Pirate School for a day".
