St Albans Band Aid raises cash for Iain Rennie Grove House Hospice and Watford Mencap at town centre show
St Albans Band Aid has raised more than £1,000 at a charity fundraising show held in the town centre on Saturday.
Now in its fifth year, £1,160 was raised from bucket donations between 10am and 5pm outside Ladbrokes for Iain Rennie Grove House Hospice and Watford Mencap.
There were 10 bands that performed on the day as part of the Band Aid including 'Katie Plus Juan', Katie Masson and Juan Fos, Elvis Shmelvis and Ricky Lopez, Kendra Giles with The King and LivziEm, Big MAMA Funk, Wanda Terrelonge and Gary Mullins.
Swan Vesta Social Club again opened the St Albans Band Aid set for their third appearance with a fun packed show, donating their album for free and headline act, Co Jones closed the show.
Dene Rosewarn organiser of St Albans Band Aid paid special mention to fundraising coordinator from Ladbrokes, Sandra Churchill from Ladbrokes, Paul Clark for setting up and Liz Hizli fundraiser from Watford Mencap.
He said: This is an event, where everyone comes together once a year to raise money for two excellent causes.
"Everyone loved it and had a really good time. There was a great atmosphere.
"We would like to say thanks again to all the musicians and behind the scenes helpers, and the lovely people who donated again so freely.
"We hope to see you all back again next September raising funds for Iain Rennie Grove House Hospice, with Motor Neurons being next year’s joint beneficiary."
