Davenport House Patient Group celebrates 20th anniversary with Harpenden health fair
Children and teenagers were the focus of a family-friendly health fair which took place in Harpenden on Saturday.
Captain of GB's paralympic 5-a-side football team at London 2012, Harpenden’s David Clarke, opened the event staged at the town’s Public Hall.
The event was organised by the Davenport House Patient Group to mark its 20th anniversary celebrations.
Mr Clarke also brought along his Olympic torch and a ‘petal’ from the Olympic cauldron, while talking to visitors and exhibitors as well as speaking about Paralympic sport as part of a varied programme of talks and demonstrations. Although now retired from competitive sport, he continues to be actively involved in the game and coaches the U7’s Harpenden Colts.
And while parents tried their hands at CPR with the Red Cross and found out about local health and support organisations, younger visitors were entertained with face-painting, balloon artistry and traditional Punch and Judy.
