Choir set to perform at St Albans mayor's Civic Service at St Albans Cathedral
Residents are invited to enjoy and listen to a newly formed choir perform at St Albans Cathedral this month.
The city’s mayor will host her Civic Service at the Abbey on Sunday, October 20 where pupils from four schools in her Wheathampstead Village Ward will perform.
The new joint choir comprises pupils from Aldwickbury School, Beech Hyde Primary School, St Albans High School for Girls Preparatory School and St Helen's C of E School.
The choir will perform a piece of work called Zadok Rules - Hallelujah! recently written by local composer Alexander L'Estrange.
The service will begin at 11am, conducted by the Mayor’s chaplain Richard Banham, Rector of St Helen's Church in Wheathampstead.
The Mayor will also be joined by her Mace-bearer, the deputy mayor, Brian Gibbard, town, parish and district councillors and Honorary Aldermen.
A collection will also be held during the service for the Mayor's charity The Living Room. It provides counselling and support for people with a whole range of addictions.
