Hertfordshire set for second fire strike following union vote
Hertfordshire looks set to undergo a second fire strike in two months following a national vote on Tuesday.
The Fire Brigades Union has announced that firefighters will strike on Saturday, October 19 between 6.30pm and 11.30pm.
The announcement follows a vote by members of the union in favour of a national strike over government proposals for new pension arrangements.
During the strike action fewer firefighters will be on duty across the county.
The strike will be the second this year after fire crews downed tools last month and presented petitions to the constituency offices of MPs in south west Hertfordshire.
The fire brigade has said they will still be responding as quickly as possible to incidents where lives are at risk.
