Wheathampstead set for road resurfacing next week
Resurfacing works on worn out roads in Wheathampstead will begin on Monday.
Works will be carried out on behalf of Hertfordshire County Council in Lower Luton Road from Common Lane to the county boundary on October 21.
The £500,000 scheme to repair the worn-out road surface will be carried out between 8pm and 5am, using full road closures.
It is expected that the work will take eight nights to complete.
Access for residents and businesses with no alternative route to their premises will be maintained whenever possible and access will be allowed to the site only when it is safe to do so.
Terry Douris, Cabinet Member for Highways, said: "We are sorry for any disruption or inconvenience caused by these essential maintenance works to improve your roads.
"The work has to be carried out while the road is closed for the safety of our workers and all road users. We ask you to allow extra time for any journeys you make while the work is in progress."
Signed alternative routes will be in place. Further details about the works, including road closure and diversion information, will be available on www.hertsdirect.org/roadworks.
The work is weather dependent and any change to the proposed start date, duration or working hours will be announced on the information boards on site and will be available at www.hertsdirect.org/roadworks.
