Nicholas Lee arrested and charged after alleged bank card con in St Albans
A man has been arrested and charged after an incident in St Albans where it is alleged a resident was conned into handing over their bank card and details.
The victim received a call from a man on Wednesday at around 10am claiming to be from his credit card company and needed to verify his details, including his pin number.
He was then asked to hand his card over to a courier who picked them up.
Nicholas Lee, 40, from Chingford was arrested in Enfield on Wednesday on suspicion of conspiracy to commit fraud by false representation. He will appear at Hatfield Remand Court today.
Police have issued crime prevention advice including:
• Your bank or police would never ask you for your PIN or bank card. Do not to part with any details.
• Leave the landline for at least 5 minutes before attempting to make an outside call or test the line first by phoning a friend or relative.
• Visit your local branch if you have any concerns about your account.
