Hertfordshire County Council has called on the Government to further delay a decision on proposals to build a rail freight depot near Park Street.
Initially the Secretary of State for Communities and Local Government Eric Pickles provided a time extension for a decision to be made to November 14.
At a cabinet meeting in county hall on Monday, the county council said they are now seeking a further extension to December 20 in order to allow sufficient time to complete actions authorised by cabinet in February.
They said this will give them time to gather more information to enable councillors to make an informed decision at additional meetings of the Policy, Resources and Performance Cabinet Panel on December 9.
