A Harpenden restaurant is holding its breath for a presentation at the House of Commons which may see it crowned for the most environmentally friendly in the food and drink industry.

That Little Place will attend a glittering ceremony at the Palace of Westminster on Monday, November 11 to celebrate their win for the second year running in the national Green Apple Awards but whether they have won Bronze, Silver, as in 2012, or Gold is a secret until the day.

Owner and Chef of the Station Road restaurant Alec Goodhand said: "We can’t wait for this as the crowning celebration of a fantastice year for That Little Place.

"On top of Best Restaurant in the St Albans Food and Drink Awards we are delighted at this national recognition for such a small place."

Mr Goodhand said he was also stunned to win the Kate D’Arcy Award for Outstanding Customer Service this year too.

When asked why they thought they had done so well after three years, co-owner John Gunner said: "We have really pulled all the stops out to be the greenest restaurant in Herts and aim even higher.

"Since last year’s Silver Award for growing and producing our own food and beer and showcasing other local producers, which itself is really unusual, we have gone on to use 100 per cent renewable energy and even send waste for more energy production.

"People appreciate quality and we are proving that green can be best."
