When I first heard this it gave me goose bumps.

Sometimes we get so caught up with the chores in our day to day lives that we cannot see what is happening around us.   We change the channel when we see news about something horrific because someone else will deal with it.  We stop hearing the abusive family next door because surely the school or social services will deal with it.   We cross the road when we hear a group of people raising their voices because someone else is sure to call the police.  We don't vote because the issue doesn't directly impact upon us and so it doesn't matter if the law doesn't change.  We sit on the fence because having an opinion may leave us open to attack and we want a quiet life.  Not me.
