St Albans Library hosted Rainbow Storytime over the weekend to showcase their collection of Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender (LGBT) picture books available for families with young children.
Families attended the showcase on Sunday to hear the true story of Tango, a penguin chick raised by two Dads.
Margaret Street, Early Years Librarian, said: "It is important for all children to see children like themselves, and families like theirs, represented in stories and many of the stories on the list are perfect for sharing with babies and young children and can be found in the picture book boxes at libraries.
"However where the stories specifically cover issues like being bullied as a result of living with gay parents, or questions like ‘where did I come from’ and are more suited to children aged 5+ these can be found in our ‘Caring for children’ collections."
