Wheathampstead Parish Council Memorial Hall was transformed last month for a Circus Spectacular Ball.

The black tie fundraiser was organised by the Friends of St Helen's C of E primary school and raised over £8,000.

Helen Caldwell, part of the organising team, said: "Everyone involved worked so hard to transform the hall, hanging fabric, wallpaper and lighting but it was so worth it - the hall was unrecognisable.

"We were bowled over by the support shown by guests and local businesses who donated their goods and services."

The school ball happens every two years and money raised this year will go towards providing computer tablets in the classrooms.
