Apprentice finalist and baking entrepreneur Luisa Zissman was on the panel to judge the Great Herts Xmas Bake Off last weekend.

St Albans girls, Charlotte Thompson, Lucy Hayes, Olivia Coverley, Tara Graham, Megan Wancio and Sumaiyah Jamil succeeded in arranging a festive day out for all the family which raised funds for the Volunteers Centre, a St Albans charity.

The mayor of St Albans Cllr Annie Brewster was in attendance and also supported the event by announcing the winners of the grand raffle.

There was a total of four celebrity judges including Greek cookery expert and successful author Tonia Buxton, Lord Sugars’ apprentice finalist Luisa Zissman, who also owns Dixies cup cakery of Market place and Bakers Tool kit, and the winners of Sky’s ‘Got to Dance’, Chris and Wes.

There were six baking categories and St Albans Girls' School came away with four awards.

Amie Green, from Garston, won the title of Best Overall Winner in the junior category, whilst Clair Marie Mackness, from Hertford, won the adult’s title.
