Six pay and display machines in St Albans City Centre have been damaged as a result of attempted thefts.

St Albans District Council has asked drivers’ for patience while it arranges repairs to damaged Pay and Display machines.

Councillor Beric Read, portfolio holder for community engagement and localism at the council, said: "We very much regret the inconvenience to residents and visitors caused by the attempted thefts from the Pay and Display machines.

"We are arranging for repairs, and taking extra precautions with the support of the police, to minimise the loss from other machines. In the meantime, please use the nearest functioning machine."
