Harpenden chamber choir The Lea Singers have teamed up with the town's Lions Club to raise money for charity projects at their annual Christmas Concert.

The concert will take place in Harpenden Public Halls in Southdown Road on Monday, December 23 at 7:30pm, will provide a festive start to Christmas week.

The Lea Singers will be joined by young brass players Bold As Brass and St Albans Cathedral organist Tom Winpenny for choruses from Handel's Messiah and carols for choir and audience.

The choir will sing a mix of well-loved Christmas music, light-hearted pieces and more serious Christmas choral favourites - everything from mistletoe to Mendelssohn.

The music will be washed down by mulled wine and mince pies, which are included in ticket prices.

Harpenden Lions Club is organising a raffle at the concert in aid of the Harpenden Lions Life Skills programme.

Miriam McKay, chair of The Lea Singers, said: "We are delighted to be working with Harpenden Lions this Christmas to raise money for a local cause. We have been impressed by the professionalism and energy with which the Lions identify and support areas of need within our community.

"The Lea Singers are looking forward to welcoming our friends Bold as Brass back to Harpenden, after they proved so popular with our audience last year. We hope to fill the Public Halls to the brim for an uplifting Christmas concert."
