A father and son accused of attacking a man with a fire extinguisher at Frogmore may face a retrial after a jury was unable to reach a verdict.

Mohammed Atar Rahman, 47, and Mohammed Sayeed Rahman, 23, were cleared of causing grievous bodily harm with intent to Redmond McDonnell.

But they could not agree on the lesser charge of causing grievous bodily harm.

At a trial last week, St Albans crown court heard that Mr McDonnell was upset that the son jumped the queue for the 655 bus in St Peter's Street, St Albans on June 12 last year.

They had a confrontation on the bus and when he got off at Frogmore it was alleged that the younger man, who had alighted at an earlier stop, arrived with his father and they attacked him.

The prosecution have been given until next Friday to decide if the Rahmans of Oliver Close, Park Street, St Albans will face a retrial.
