A St Albans school has welcomed a new minibus to transport pupils to educational and community trips.

Townsend School's minibus, which costs just under £35,000, was donated by the West Herts Charity Trust LTD , with an added small contribution from friends of Townsend PTA.

John Masters of the trust presented the minibus to Ian Graham, Deputy Chair Friends of Townsend and David Pugh, the school’s assistant headteacher.

The minibus will transport pupils to Sixth Form consortium lessons, competing in regular sports fixtures, departmental courses and educational trips plus other community projects, including visits to Age Concern and local primary schools.

The donation comes after parent and carer Mandy Clutson got the ball rolling nearly 18 months ago.
