Members from a community group based in St Albans are inviting “those in need whatever the weather” to a soup kitchen this weekend.
New Testament Church of God, based in Fleetville Community Centre, will be offering members of the community hot soup, food and drink on Saturday, December 21 from 3pm to 5.30pm.
Pearl Roper, member of the group, said they decided to reach out to community near Christmas time after enjoying serving up West Indian food during Larks in the Parks every year.
She said: “Our aim is to offer hot soup, food and drinks whatever the weather for those in need in the community. We will serve until we run out and we want people to know we are there to help.
“We are reaching out to needy people and I am looking forward to serving people in the community.
“Just turn up and we will be there.”
Free clothes will also be available at the event, which will be held in Fleetville Community centre in Royal Road.
