Christmas lunch served by the Mayor of St Albans ‘went down a treat’ during festive celebrations at a residential care home in the city.
On Monday, December 9 the city’s Mayor Annie Brewster surprised Dorant House residents at their annual Residents and Trustees Christmas Lunch.
As part of a scheme set up by Almshouses, who provide charitable housing, residents in their 90’s were also delighted to be presented with festive gifts by the Mayor.
Brian Chapman, administrator of the Dorant House charity, said: "It was wonderful.
"To have the Mayor for lunch was a surprise for many of the residents. They were very pleased- It went down a treat.
"The Mayor was very good and she walked around the various tables chatting to everybody."
