Police are appealing for witnesses after a 64-year-old cyclist was seriously injured after a crash with a van in St Albans this morning.

Emergency services were called to Batchwood Drive around 9.40am, when a white Mercedes-Benz Vito panel van crashed in to cyclist.

The cyclist, a 64-year-old man, was taken to the Royal London Hospital, where he is currently in a stable condition.

The driver of the van, a 26-year-old man, was not injured.

Sergeant Paul Pickett is investigating the collision and said: “I am appealing for anyone who saw the vehicle or cyclist prior to the collision, or the incident itself, to make contact with me.”
