Commuters wanrned of disruptions on First Capital Connect services due to severe weather warnings

First Capital Connect (FCC) has warned St Albans commuters of disruptions to its services due to severe weather warnings.

Today and tomorrow, Tuesday, December 24, Network Rail is going to implement speed restrictions on all our routes and we will be running a reduced timetable on both days.

On the Great Northern route, a reduced timetable will be running from the start of service this morning and on the Thameslink route, a reduced timetable will begin from midday today.

As warnings have suggested the storm will continue throughout the night, the lines will have to be checked for damage on Tuesday morning before being released back to us to start running services again.

There will be no trains on Tuesday in the hours of darkness and services will resume when possible. Passengers, who have booked advanced travel and are using FCC services to connect with other ones, will have their FCC tickets passed to ensure they are valid for travel on Sunday, Monday or Tuesday.

FCC apologised for the disruptions and advised customers to try and get home early on Monday and “wherever possible not to travel on Monday evening and Tuesday morning.”

It warned services are likely to remain disrupted until the close of service on Christmas eve.
