Monopoly came to life in St Albans when the giant board game hit the city’s streets.

The fifth Monopoly Mania event attracted more than 1,500 people in to St Albans, which invited families to visit 20 different checkpoints including the city centre, Verulamium Park and part of the Ver Valley walk by the Sopwell Nunnery site.

The roof of a double decker bus was ripped off after it crashed into a bridge at Harpenden railway station in Station Road.

Investigations following the crash revealed the bus driver had been driving along the wrong route.

Thousands of people stood in silence across St Albans district in afternoon sunshine to remember those who had laid down their lives in the service of their country.

Remembrance Day services were held across the city for people to remember the men and women who have given their lives defending our freedom.

War veterans, men, women and children lined St Peter’s Street for the annual Remembrance Day procession.
