A St Albans man has been recognised by the Queen in the New Year Honours list 2014.
Richard Rose has been made an OBE for his services to Infrastructure in Afghanistan, while working in the Department for International Development.
Radlett resident John Dorrington Apthorp, OBE, has also been recognised for charitable services particularly in Hertfordshire.
