West Hertfordshire Hospitals NHS Trust appoints new non-executive directors Ginny Edwards, John Brougham and Jonathan Rennison

A qualified nurse, a telecoms businessman and a management consultant have been appointed to board positions at the trust in charge of St Albans City Hospital.

West Hertfordshire Hospitals NHS Trust announced Ginny Edwards, John Brougham and Jonathan Rennison have joined as non-executive directors.

The appointments come after two directors retired last year and another, Mahdi Hasan, was appointed as the trust’s chairman.

Ginny Edwards is a qualified nurse, who has held a number of senior positions in the health sector and also led national improvement programmes. She is also a trustee of Peace Hospice Care in Watford, Vice Chair of Hertsmere Citizens Advice Bureaux and a member of Watford Rotary Club, and also a trustee of the Association for Perioperative Practice.

John Brougham has 40 years in the technology and telecoms sectors, including 22 years at BT where he was a Divisional Finance Director, and has served as a non-executive director on the Boards of both private and public limited companies.

Jonathan Rennison has over 20 years’ experience of working in the education, voluntary and public sectors. He currently runs an organisation which provides coaching for private businesses, as well as public sector and voluntary organisations and his expertise lies in helping leadership teams to manage change and development.

Following the appointments Mahdi Hasan, the chairman of the trust, said: "I am delighted to welcome Ginny, John and Jonathan on to our Trust Board. The role of a non-executive director is absolutely crucial so it is excellent news that we have appointed three people with such a wealth of experience and knowledge.

"Ginny, John and Jonathan join us at an exciting, albeit challenging time. As well as making significant changes to further improve the way that we care for our patients and support our staff, we are in the process of developing a clinical strategy for the future of our hospitals. This will help ensure that we are both clinically and financially sustainable for the longer term."

The trio took up their roles on January 6 and are appointed for a four-year term. The position comes with £6,157 remuneration per annum.
