Police are appealing for witnesses after a crash in Redbourn yesterday left a woman in her 80s in a critical condition.

The woman was flown to the Royal London Hospital after suffering head and leg injuries after a crash between two cars at 9.40am in Dunstable Road (A5183) at the junction of Luton Lane.

Location of the crash

The silver Ford Focus was travelling in the direction of the M1 roundabout and the grey Peugeot 206, which was travelling in the opposite direction, towards Redbourn.

Giles Cooper, spokesman from Hertfordshire Constabulary said the woman who was driving the Ford is now in a critical but stable condition and the Peugeot driver received minor injuries.

PC Jacqueline Lister is investigating the crash and said: "I am keen to speak to anyone who saw the two vehicles prior to the collision, or the incident itself, to make contact with me."

Anyone with information is asked to contact PC Lister via Herts Police non-emergency number 101. Alternatively call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
