Police are appealing for information after a teenager was assaulted on a bus in St Albans.

The 17-year-old was struck on the side of his head by a man at around 8.05pm on Friday, January 10 on board the S4 UNO bus when it was at a bus stop in St Peter’s Street.

The criminal is described as a white man, aged between 20 and 25, over 6ft and 2ins tall and clean shaven. He was wearing a grey hooded top and light coloured baggy trousers. He was also carrying a wine bottle.

A woman, who was also on the bus at the time of the incident, stopped to help the victim and police would like to speak to her as she may be able to assist the investigation.

PC Mark Smith is investigating and said: "This was an unprovoked attack and the victim, although not injured, has been left very shaken by what happened.

"I am grateful to the woman on the bus who helped the victim and I am eager to speak to her as it is possible she may have further information about the incident. I would also urge anyone else, who may have witnessed the incident or knows the identity of the offender, to contact me straight away."

Anyone with information is asked to contact PC Smith via Hertfordshire Constabulary’s non-emergency number 101, citing crime reference F1/14/109. Alternatively call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
