A drama and comedy film, inspired by the real life story of a St Albans woman, has received three Oscar nominations.
Philomena, based on the life of Irish woman Philomena Lee, has been hailed for best picture and best adapted screen play, following the Academy Awards announcement this afternoon.
Dame Judi Dench has also received a nomination for best actor, for her role in the film, which tells the real life story of a woman’s 50-year long search for her son after she was forced to give him up for adoption.
The 86th Annual Academy Awards ceremony will be broadcast live from Hollywood's Dolby Theatre on Sunday, March 2.
