Residents took advantage of all that St Albans has to offer at this year's Residents First weekend.

On Saturday, January 25 and Sunday, January 26 visitors sampled city highlights including local attractions, restaurants, businesses and hotels, with exclusive offers or even for free.

The dramatised court room trials in the old Town Hall, visits to the 1892 grade-II listed South Signal Box and tours of St Albans Cathedral Tower, also proved popular with residents.

Richard Shwe, Head of Community Services for St Albans City and District Council, said: "Interest was particularly high in Residents First Weekend this year, with an unprecedented demand for brochures beforehand, and more enquiries than ever before.

"Many people turned out to enjoy the wide variety of attractions, activities and offers available and the feedback from event organisers so far is overwhelmingly positive.

"Although we have not yet heard back from all the event organisers, many are reporting an increase in visitor numbers from last year. "
