Children from St Peter’s Church and St Albans Masorti Synagogue (SAMS) in St Albans have joined together for an evening of sharing and learning.

Thirty children aged between seven and 13-years-old gathered at the event, which focused on bringing together children of both communities, was hosted at SAMS at its synagogue in Campfield Road.

The theme for the evening was Sabbath practice and the children were encouraged to learn from each other about how they live with faith in a secular society.

The event was held on a Friday night to showcase Jewish Sabbath.

Rabbi Rafi said: "We are pleased to have had the opportunity for the children of both communities to share this event and are looking forward to additional events to follow. It is important, as religious communities fostering faith in our young, that we open the lines of communication and interaction as early as possible. For this alone, the event was a huge success and the children had a wonderful time."

The event marks the first in what both communities hope will be an ongoing event in their youth movement diaries.
