Residents gathered at a St Albans church to gain some insight and tips into effective dementia care at home.
The event, one of a series by Helping Hands, was hosted by former Dementia Personality of The Year and Helping Hands Dementia Specialist Jayne Vale at the Homewood Road United Reformed Church.
Families got the chance to hear about some of the science as well as hands on training activities and an opportunity to share experiences and raise specific issues directly with the Helping Hands dementia care team.
Sharon Baker from Harpenden said: "The day has made a huge difference in my understanding of dementia care.
"I am now hoping my family will feel better about the possibility of keeping mum at home for longer."
The St Albans homecare team offers support across Hertfordshire, Bedfordshire and Buckinghamshire with services ranging from 30 minutes housekeeping calls, to dog walking, help with shopping, companionship and personal care all the way through to Live-in Care, complex care and palliative care.
