Eagar cyclists shared their creative ideas for a new street art community mural during a brainstorming event in St Albans on Saturday.

Young people from the Cunningham Hub Youth Café gathered ideas for a mural they are creating to decorate the Alban Way tunnel under London Road. The mural aims to illustrate the history and attractions of the former railway line.

Accompanied by a professional artist, the children asked passers-by how they use the Alban Way as inspiration for the mural.

Peter Wares, a Verluamium Park consultative forum member and Ramsbury Road resident, joined the family day with his son Chris and his eight-year-old granddaughter Melissa Caneppele.

Mr Wares said: "The day was reasonably well supported and there were many young people involved in designing for the mural.

"There were hordes of people cycling and walking along the Alban Way at the weekend. I am hopeful that when the mural is designed, that it will be of the highest quality and reflect the history of the former railway line."

The day was organised by St District Council and Sustrans.
