For one day only St Albans will play host to Irish dancers and live music when the city holds its first St Patrick’s Day Festival.
The event will take place in Christopher Place on Sunday, March 16 and has been organised by John McGuinness, from the White Swan, a traditional Irish pub in Upper Dagnall Street.
Mr McGuinness said: "Every year, we have a great crowd in the White Swan on St Patrick’s Day with live music and dancing. We thought why not take that on to the street and make it an event for the whole family?
"This is the first time we are holding the festival but we hope it will become a tradition in St Albans and grow every year.
"There is a massive Irish community living in the area but this is an event for everyone. We hope they come along for the craic."
The Mayor of St Albans Annie Brewster, will officially start the festivities from 12 noon.
New York boasts the biggest St Patrick’s Day parade, closely followed by Sydney.
In Chicago, local authorities dye the river green for the day, but so far, there are no plans are in place to do the same with the River Ver.
