A finalist in the BBC Young Musician of the Year 2014 performed at a fundraising concert to raise more than £400 for a St Albans-based charity on Thursday.

Julian Trevelyan, finalist in the BBC Young Musician competition, performed in a piano trio at St Saviour’s Church to raise money for The Living Room, a charity dedicated to supporting people with addiction problems.

Accompanied by Timothy Crawford on violin and Abraham Wallfisch on cello, the trio played three works - Beethoven’s short piano trio movement in Bb major, Debussy’s beautiful G major piano trio and a third piano trio by Martinu in C major.

Fran Flecther, community fundraiser at The Living Room, said: "It was superb and such a peaceful afternoon. Around 70 people came along and everybody loved it.

"It was free to attend but everybody gave so generously when leaving, which was really great.

"The trio were absolutely amazing and very talented. It was their first public performance together and it was incredible."
