Harpenden’s Mayor, Rosemary Farmer, has raised £9,000 for her nominated charities during her Mayoral year.

During the Annual Town Meeting on Monday, March 31, the town's mayor was delighted to present cheques, each in the sum of £3457.51 to The Harpenden Trust and The Royal Anglian Regiment Benevolent Charity.

A cheque was presented to Major Harry Hinnell, The Royal Anglian Regiment , and to Graham Westwell, chairman of The Harpenden Trust.

In total, £9,000 has been raised from charity events, activities and donations. The town mayor also held a Quiz Night, a Race Night, a Mayor’s at Home and a Murder Mystery Evening.

She said: "I have held four very successful events during my year in office and I would like to thank everyone for their support and generosity.  I would especially like to thank Ginny the Quizmaster, Sandra Churchill and staff from Ladbrokes, Andrew and Kate Buchanan, Hilary Bell, and Frances Hall for giving up their time to help at my events and support my fundraising.

"There were also many local companies and individuals, too many to mention, who most generously gave prizes and donations of which I am very grateful.  A big thank you to you all. My fundraising events highlighted the great community spirit that is in Harpenden and the great team work that can take place in our Town for others.  Thank you."
